Abstract :
How is our ED performing? Without a comprehensive and trustworthy Measurement System, such a simple question will never have an answer. Does a measurement system matter? What are the key elements of a solid measurement system? What should we be aware of when developing a measurement system? What does it takes to become a great �measurement system�?
Through the case study of �Sudden Cardiac Arrest� emergency rescue procedure, we will learn the cause and effect relationship between the key elements (Xs, such as VoC, Action Standards, Data, Variation etc.)and survival rates(Y)in L.A., Philadelphia, New York and Seattle respectively. You will also rediscover measurement system and measures systematically through a series of explorations and surprises.
Workshop Objectives :
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the importance of Measurement System towards a solid ER processes.
2. Identify what makes a good measurement system.
3. Practice how a good measurement system benefits for ER processes
4. Describe the importance between measuring performance and managing ER processes
5. Make good decisions based on data collection and analysis.
� Describe types of data and appropriate ways of collecting and analyzing them
� Explain the trustworthiness of data and improving the reliability and validity of collected data
